SPRING PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR MAY 2021

The Collab

I've collaborated with some extraordinary people to make this workshop possible.

Find more about their stories here:

Photography instructor

Terri Huxley has been in the photo game for four years, two of which were when she gained much of her technical training from SAIT. She got her first camera at the age of 12 and was gravitated towards capturing life's little moments on the farm since then. Fast forward to today, Terri is an award winning multimedia journalist with a soft spot for the western way of life and women in agriculture. Her podcast, Empaths in Ag, shines a light on current issues and has guests to help listeners understand their calling in life.

For these workshops, Terri will work side-by-side with all of her delegates to give each one the best experience they possibly can. By the end of the workshop, everyone should feel a sense of creativity and inspirational spark which helps them pursue their own photography business dreams linked to western life.

The Model

Tanner Madge is no stranger to the camera. He has worked with Terri several times in the past, bringing her western vision to life with the help of his family's history through land and buildings in the Special Areas of Alberta. For these workshops, Tanner is one of the main models involved and is also the provider of some of the locations we will be shooting at.

At this point, we also have Michaela Balderson modelling. Applications are open for 2 additional models as well! (Preferably one male and one female)

Makeup

Robyn Guenthner is a true cowgirl. She love for agriculture/ranching and her new found passion for Seint Makeup makes her ideal for tending to model's needs, providing a flawless application every time. This application will help model confidence rise and thus make photographing that much more enjoyable. Robyn started using Seint Makeup over a year ago which then turned into herself becoming an artist/sales rep for the company.

Itinerary

Morning: Drumheller: Where the dinosaurs once roamed! This little coal mining town is abundant with old buildings and an out-of-this-world landscape only found in the beautiful badlands. This is a great place for landscape shots, portraits and even the classic tourist exploration. We will visit Dorothy and Horse Thief Canyon; two of my all-time favourite locations! Why? for their beauty and unique features only found here in the Canadian Badlands.

Lunch break!

Afternoon: Think of the wide open spaces of the prairies... Saddled horses, cowboy hats and the odd tumbleweed blowing through. This is Alberta's Special Areas, the place where we will spend the majority of our workshop exploring useful techniques in the afternoon until golden hour. Here is where we will focus on portraiture and working with what we have to make it a successful shoot without relying on as much of a pleasing background.

So long partner: We finish the day after golden hour is gone. Dependant upon time of year.
